Dr Screaton is an experienced consultant radiologist specialising in cardiothoracic radiology. He was Radiology Clinical Director in Papworth Hospital 2004 – 12, President of the British Society of Thoracic Imaging 2009 – 13, National Institute of Clinical Excellence Guidelines Updates Standing Committee member 2014-17, and member of Royal College of Radiologists Faculty Board 2015-18. He currently sits on the British Thoracic Society Sarcoidosis Guidelines development group. He is Vice President (Publications) for the British Institute of Radiologists and European Society of Thoracic Imaging Councillor. He is Eastern Region Group lead for British Institute of Radiologists and member of the UK Lung Cancer Coalition.
He has a national and international profile in cardiothoracic imaging. His contribution to improved thoracic disease management is recognised by: Regular invitations to speak at & organise national & international meetings and his previous contribution to specialist guideline groups (Developed 12 NICE guidelines 10 with Updates Standing Committee (2013–17), 16 Royal College of Radiologists iREFER referral guidelines as Chest Section Co-lead (2013-16), British Thoracic Society Radical Lung Cancer Management & Bronchiectasis guidelines). He is Vice President for the British Institute of Radiologists leading the publications section which covers 4 specialist imaging journals. He is chest section Senior Editor for British Journal of Radiology, Advisory Editor for Clinical Radiology and regular reviewer for several national and international specialist clinical and imaging journals.
He has published widely on cardiothoracic imaging with over 60 papers in peer reviewed journals, has served as research and education lead for the British Society of Thoracic Imaging and is a regular invited speaker at national imaging meetings.
