Equality, diversity and inclusion
Royal Papworth Hospital is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and human rights with the highest possible standards of care and outcomes for patients and staff.
Our diversity is our strength, but we must ensure equality, equity and inclusion to allow that diversity to flourish.
One of our strategical objectives is to create the best staff experience in the NHS, with a compassionate and collective culture and belonging and inclusion for all.
We value diversity and are committed to treating everyone with respect and dignity at all times, challenging discriminatory behaviour, and ensuring equitable access to development opportunities.
Any form of discrimination, harassment or victimisation whether it’s related to age, sex, race and ethnicity, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender re-assignment, pregnancy and maternity, paternity, marriage and civil partnership will not be tolerated.
Our transformational reciprocal mentoring inclusion programme pairs senior leaders with people who have a lived experience of race or disability.
Staff networks
Race Equality Network
We have an active Race Equality Network (REN) which meets bi-monthly.
All staff are welcome to join regardless of ethnic background as we want all our staff to achieve their full potential and have a positive experience of work.
Women's Network
The purpose of the group is to support, promote and acknowledge gender issues within the trust and raise awareness, improve the working environment and boost employee confidence.
Our EDI team and Women’s Network collaborated to introduce free sanitary products across our Trust.Disability & Difference and Working Carers Network
This network drives forward and promotes the interests of WDES (workforce disability equality standard) staff employed at Royal Papworth Hospital. It identifies ways of challenging discrimination and stereotyping among colleagues and patients, and to promote mutual support to WDES staff.
LGBT+ Network
By promoting and being aware of the interests of LGBT+ staff employed at Royal Papworth Hospital, we can identify ways of challenging discrimination and stereotyping among colleagues and patients, and to promote mutual support to LGBT+ staff.
