Royal Papworth Hospital has been listed as one of the best-performing hospitals in the country for inpatient experience, according to a new report.
The Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) 2018 Adult Inpatient Survey looked at the experiences of adult inpatients across 144 NHS trusts.
Patients aged 16 or older who had at least one overnight stay were asked a range of questions including whether they had confidence and trust in the doctors, the cleanliness of the hospital, and the quality of the food.
Trusts were then listed in one of five categories based on the proportion of patients who responded positively compared to the average; ‘much better than expected’, ‘better than expected’, ‘about the same’, ‘worse than expected’ or ‘much worse than expected’.
Patients at Royal Papworth experienced care that was ‘better than expected’, with 74% of responses listed as the ‘most positive’ answer. The average for 'most positive' answers across the country was 66%.
Royal Papworth Hospital was one of 11 trusts to be listed in one of the top two categories.
