Congratulations to cardiologist Dr Sarah Clarke who has been elected as the new clinical vice president at the Royal College of Physicians, following a vote of more than 4,000 RCP fellows.
Dr Clarke is an interventional cardiologist at Royal Papworth and joint-national lead for cardiology for the NHS’s ‘Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme. She was previously past president of the British Cardiovascular Society.
She will stand down from her current role as an elected RCP Council member to take on her new position on a three-year tenure.
"It is an honour to have been elected by the Fellows of the RCP to this prestigious role and I am proud to represent Royal Papworth Hospital," Dr Clarke said. "As well as supporting the RCP President my remit is around quality improvement initiatives and digitalisation.
"I am very grateful to the CEO, Medical Director, Executive team and colleagues at Royal Papworth for their support over the years which has facilitated this achievement. The role is part time and I will continue my clinical activities at Royal Papworth, including on-call!"
