The Papworth Trials Unit Collaboration (PTUC) has achieved full registration with the UK Clinical Research Collaboration as a recognised Clinical Trials Unit.
The international peer review committee were very complimentary noting that: “The unit had presented a well-constructed and considered application which provided clear evidence of established operational experience in the design and delivery of large scale multi-centre clinical trials.
“Overall, the committee concluded a strong application had been presented which met the criteria for Full Registration”.
The PTUC is a collaboration between the Clinical Trials Unit at Royal Papworth Hospital, the MRC Biostatistics Unit, Cambridge, and the Health Economics Group, King’s College London.
The Clinical Trials Unit is an integral part of the hospital’s R&D Department and provides the expertise and infrastructure for the set-up, management and publication of high quality, multi-centre, randomised clinical trials and research studies.
Dr Robert Rintoul, Director of Royal Papworth Hospital Clinical Trials Unit Collaboration, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded UKCRC full registration and we are very excited about growing and developing PTUC over the next few years.
“I would like to thank the many people from Papworth R&D, the MRC Biostatistics Unit and King’s Health Economics Group who supported us with this application.”
